FAQs
What can I expect?
Psychological services can assist you in breaking unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns. Working with a psychologist can also help you navigate through struggles and challenges so that you can move forward in your life.
In your first session, you will be asked questions about your current situation, struggles, background history, personal goals and may be asked to complete some questionnaires. Gathering this information will help your psychologist formulate a treatment plan going forward that best suits your needs and responsivity. The psychologist will also discuss how therapy generally works and answer any questions you may have.
In subsequent sessions, your psychologist will work with you to help you achieve your therapy goals.
How many sessions will I need?
Psychological therapy typically and initially is based around 6 weekly sessions, but more or less sessions may be more appropriate for your needs. The total number and frequency of sessions varies by condition and treatment. Following the initial assessment session, your psychologist will discuss with you a treatment plan going forward based on your identified individual goals and levels of distress. Therapy takes a collaborative client-focused approach where you take an active role in determining how many sessions you need and how often you need them.
